714 Information regarding changes to Consumption Tax for customers booking for dates after April 1st 2014 2013/09/30
To customers making reservations for dates after April 1st 2014:
From April 2014, Consumption Tax in Japan will rise from 5% to 8%. Currently the prices shown on JAPANiCAN.com reflect the value including only 5% tax, and there may be cases where customers are charged an additional 3% to make up the difference. The situation will differ depending on the type of booking made. For more information please read the below remarks.

1. For customers booking using "Payment in Advance" from October 1st to November 27th:
A portion of hotels will display the fee with a 5% consumption tax. However, when moving through to the booking screen (Enter details, Check details, Reservation confirmed) the price shown will reflect the 8% consumption tax and will be different from the initial price shown for the room. In this case, the full consumption tax will have been paid and there will be no additional charge at the hotel upon arrival.

2. For customers booking using "Payment on Arrival" from October 1st to December 18th:
The price shown will only include 5% consumption tax. When paying at the hotel, the full 8% tax will be charged. We apologize for any inconvenience.
