548 What services are provided for infants, and is there a fee? 2016/12/29
Infants are defined as 0-2 years of age. Meals and bedding for infants are not provided, and infants are expected to sleep together with their parent(s) or guardian(s). In general, there is no fee for infants to stay at most hotels/ryokan, however there are some establishments that do charge a fee. In such a case, the infant fee must be paid at the hotel/ryokan. The charge is at the discretion of the establishment, but it typically does not exceed approximately JPY 3,000 per night per infant. This charge is to cover facility usage and services besides meals and bedding, such as usage of bathing areas.

If you indicate the number of infants in the party after selecting a room, this information will be sent to the hotel/ryokan. If you would like to request special services for your infant(s) or inquire about the infant fee, please contact the accommodation facility directly.

If you are requesting a baby bed, crib, or stroller (pram) for your infant, please also submit a request to the accommodation facility directly. Depending on the hotel and the facilities they have available, there may be some cases when they do not have facilities appropriate for your infant or when such facilities require an additional fee.
